Interior Community Health Center provides COVID-19 vaccinations to our medical patients during a medical appointment. For patients who are not established with us and do not want an office visit, only a vaccine, we recommend contacting your local pharmacy or going to vaccines.gov to find a vaccination resource in your area.
We provide COVID-19 drive-through tests between 8:00am and 10:00am Mon-Fri at our Fairbanks location. Testing in Healy is available upon request. COVID-19 tests are submitted to the State of Alaska Virology Lab, which provides them at no cost to patients. Typical turn-around time for a COVID-19 test result is 2 to 4 days, but limited available supplies at the lab sometimes cause delays. We will do our best to notify you if this happens and we are made aware of it.
We also provide COVID-19 tests during regular business hours for patients who present to the clinic for a medical appointment with symptoms that are suspected to be caused by COVID-19.
What to do if you have a positive test
If you tested positive, you should isolate for 5 days from the first day you became symptomatic. After that, you should wear a mask if in public for another 5 days. Overall, if you are low risk for severe disease, you can treat symptoms with over the counter medications as you would with any other upper respiratory virus/cold.
If you have tested positive and are interested in an appointment because you have symptoms you are concerned about, or because you are at higher risk because of your other medical issues, then we are happy to see you in a virtual appointment. Please call and discuss your symptoms with a nurse so we can get you into an appropriate appointment.
